Rangers want Antoine Semenyo and they may end up securing a bargain not long after Bristol City were seeking £20million for him.

The Gers are going through changes at the moment with boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst sacked on Monday morning.

It looks like Michael Beale is the top choice for Rangers and it also appears that director of football Ross Wilson will be keeping his job.

Wilson is under huge pressure after some questionable recruitment and he needs a big 2023 in order to keep his job.

Rangers want Antoine Semenyo

Wilson will be charged with the task of finding another striker in 2023.

Antonio Colak has been finding the net but it currently looks like Alfredo Morelos is heading for the exit door.

Rangers will absolutely need to find another striker or two in 2023 and Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo appears to be one target.

Sports Ghana World claimed earlier this month that Rangers are planning to make a £5million bid for Semenyo.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but Bristol City do have a one-year option on the deal.

That still means that Semenyo is entering the final 18 months of his contract and Bristol City will soon be under pressure to sell.

Rangers offering £5million may be tempting, especially after seeing Semenyo score just three times in 16 games this season.

Semenyo – who is now at the World Cup with Ghana – did rack up eight goals and 12 assists in an encouraging campaign last term.

Bristol City won’t want to see Semenyo wind down his contract and Rangers will hope that £5million can get the deal done.

This is an alarming situation for the Robins given that they demanded £20million for Semenyo less than a year ago, rejecting a Nottingham Forest bid.

That sums up what a bargain Rangers could land if £5million is enough, with Semenyo still having bags of untapped potential.
