Who precisely is Caroline Ellison character?
Caroline Ellison is a distinguished American executive who is active in the field of business. She formerly worked for Alameda Research, a quantitative trading firm that was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, where she held the position of Chief Executive Officer. In November 2022, the Wall Street Journal reported information from an anonymous source claiming that Alameda Research owed the cryptocurrency exchange FTX the sum of ten billion dollars in debt. The funds provided by FTX’s customers were reportedly utilized to provide finance for the trading company, as stated by the source. Ellison’s position inside the company was terminated as a direct consequence of FTX and Alameda filing for bankruptcy protection.
Early Life and Education of Caroline Ellison
Ellison’s father, Glenn Ellison, is a professor of economics at MIT, and her mother, Sara Fisher Ellison, is also a professor of economics at MIT. Glenn Ellison coached Ellison’s middle school math team, and Sara Fisher Ellison is also a professor of economics at MIT. Ellison is their daughter. The progression of Caroline Ellison’s professional life
Ellison was able to secure a position as a quantitative trader with the company Jane Street immediately after receiving her degree. There, she first met Sam Bankman-Fried. It was there that they became acquainted. She had been a junior trader at Jane Street for the prior 19 months while she was employed there.
Ellison began her employment with Alameda Research in March 2018, and just over two years later, in October 2021, she was promoted to the role of co-CEO, working alongside Sam Trabucco. She became the only CEO of Alameda Research in August of 2022, when her predecessor, Trabucco, resigned from his position as CEO of the organization.

On November 6, 2022, following concerns raised by CoinDesk regarding the balance sheet of Alameda Research and its relationship with FTX, Ellison stated that the balance sheet information that had been released only included some of Alameda’s assets, and that the company had more than $10 billion of additional assets. According to former employees of FTX and Alameda, Ellison had a romantic relationship with Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX, while the two were employed there. This information was provided by former employees of both companies. She admitted on her Tumblr blog that she has experimented with the romantic relationship style known as polyamory.
Ellison has given a financial gift to the FTX Future Fund in order for it to be able to fund charitable endeavors that are consistent with the principles of effective altruism.
