West Ham now offered Wolves captain Conor Coady amid Everton interest

David Moyes has now been offered a chance to sign Conor Coady from Wolves, but West Ham would trail rival Premier League interest from Everton. Thats according to talkSPORT, who report that the Toffees are the keenest team currently trying to land the England star.

Frank Lampard is pushing hard for the Toffees to take the centre-back to Goodison Park in the final month of the market. He is determined to further bolster his backline following a free transfer for former Burnley enforcer James Tarkowski after his Clarets contract ended.

Wolves are reluctant to lose Coady, but are ready to sanction a transfer as he has now lost his place in Bruno Lages side. Molineux chiefs are sympathetic to his desire to play regular football ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following seven years of service at the club.

Lampard believes Coady would be an ideal addition to his ranks as the Wolves skipper will offer the right character and mentality to lift his dressing room. But agents have contacted Moyes to see if West Ham would be interested in rivalling Everton for a deal with Wolves.

West Ham have spent 30m on a centre-back already this summer with Moyes betting big on Nayef Aguerd from Stade Rennais. But the Scot will be without his new addition for the foreseeable future, after he was forced to undergo surgery after sustaining an ankle injury.

Frank Lampard determined to sign England international from Bruno Lage

Coady has been the perfect example of a captain at Wolves during the past five years with his example-setting manner. But the 10-cap Three Lions enforcer is no longer a fist name on Lages teamsheet, and The Mirror report he could now depart for 20m or even less.

Wolves still have Coady under contract on a 62k-a-week contract through to 2025. But his loyalty over the years has earned the defender the right to seek a move should he wish to.

Lampards determination to see Everton sign Coady may well see the Wolves skipper snub any interest West Ham and Moyes show to return to Merseyside. The 29-year-old honed his trade in Liverpools academy, but only broke through for two first-team appearances.

His performances at Molineux are what has interested Lampard, and potentially Moyes, in a swoop. While Lage has now moved on from Coady, he has previously been full of praise.

Coady, last time, was so important defensively and offensively, because he scored a goal [against Everton] like a striker! he said in a press conference in March. The centre-backs are so compact, they know how to work together, but it is teamwork and the whole team.

No surprise that he is involved with England, at all. He is one of the best guys I know in football. Every time with the big ambition, every time first in the building in the morning. Every time, bringing motivation to everyone. The leadership is by example.
