The National Commission for Women (NCW) issued a statement on Friday, December 2, 2022, calling for the immediate and severe dismissal of the judge from the Rouse Avenue court who was reportedly seen on film indulging in a “sexually explicit” conduct with a lady inside his office earlier this week. The video, which first surfaced on social media on Tuesday (November 29, 2022), has been banned from being shared after the Delhi High Court ruled that doing so would cause “irreparable harm” to the plaintiff’s private rights. The ruling came on November 29, 2022. The National Commission for Women claimed in a statement that it had seen a media report regarding a “objectionable video” of a Rouse Avenue court judge and that it had seen the information on Friday. The statement was released.

NCW about the matter

“The Commission has acknowledged that it is aware of the situation. Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court requesting an action taken report and requesting that severe action be done against the judge if it is determined that the charges are accurate “as stated by NCW. In addition, the commission has inquired as to whether or not the Rouse Avenue Court complies with the provisions of the POSH Act of 2013, which mandates the establishment of an internal committee.

The High Court has shown that it is aware of the situation

Within the next seven days, the commission requires a report on the activities that have been done. In an order that was issued late on Wednesday night, Justice Yashwant Varma stated that the high court had taken cognizance of the incident and that its registrar general had conveyed to authorities the necessity of blocking the video across all social media platforms. This was stated in an order that Justice Varma had issued. The court had stated in its order that an ad interim ex parte injunction was clearly warranted because “Bearing in mind the sexually explicit nature of the contents of that video and taking into consideration the imminent, grave and irreparable harm that is likely to be caused to the privacy rights of the plaintiff an ad interim ex parte injunction is clearly warranted,”
