Kellyville Pets History

Kellyville Pets started in 1983 with a young man named John who sells pets on the weekend while he was still at school back then, the store was no bigger than a single room.

The business was dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership right from when it started and matching the right person with the right pet. 36 years on, Kellyville Pets is one of Australia’s leading and the largest independent pet store and has employed over 40 specialist staff.

Kellyville Pets specializes in all companion animals including cats, dogs, ornamental fish, small animals, reptiles, companion birds, and crawly critters.
Pets are often a very important component in people’s lives and Kellyville Pets understand the many benefits they bring. Both to the community and individuals, providing comfort, companionship, and improving the quality of life.

It’s well known that people with animals often enjoy a better quality of health and well-being because of the positive effect of having an animal companion.
With this in mind, Kellyville Pets’ aim is to ensure people get the most out of that relationship.
All of Kellyville Pets’ crew have been specially selected because of their exceptional passion and knowledge for pets.

They are all specialists in their own departments, ensuring that customers get the best advice and expertise when they come into the store.
They are all pet owners themselves, but most importantly they all love pets!
The passion of the team radiates through as many are studying Zoology or Animal Husbandry, Zoology, and all other similar courses at university or TAFE.

Kellyville Pets support

Kellyville Pets support a lot of organizations such as Orangutan Centre, AWL NSW, and Zambi just to name a few.

Orangutan Rescue

At Kellyville Pets, you can purchase rise of the eco-Warriors DVD and by so doing, you are contributing to the day-to-day care and running costs of the Orangutans as all proceeds from the DVD will go directly to the Sintang Orangutan Centre in Borneo.

Kellyville Pets is committed to finding the most suitable and reliable home for all animals of all kinds, both young and old. Thanks to the support of the community and the commitment of AWL staff, Kellyville Pets has successfully re-homed more than 320 cats as well as several guinea pigs and rabbits.
This number is continually growing, as it is pleasing to see these beautiful animals be given a second chance at finding their home.

Zambi Wildlife Retreat

Zambi Wildlife Retreat has become Australia’s first and only animal welfare establishment that can Rehabilitate, Rescue, Re-home, and offer Shelter to a wide range of species.
While their focus will be on exotic animals needing retirement from zoo breeding programs, circus, and private ownership, they also provide shelter and care to domestics, farm animals, and native wildlife.
Emergency rescue is also available across all species. Managed by volunteers as well as highly qualified staff, Zambi Wildlife Retreat ensures the safety, health, and dignity of all animals in their care. LOTL Rescue, established in 2012, is the founding company of Zambi Wildlife Retreat.

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre

Kellyville Pets offer wing clipping as a service for a gold coin donation. All wing clipping donations received go to the Black Cockatoo Preservation Society which is a not-for-profit, independent conservation organization working to conserve black cockatoos through revegetation, rehabilitation, research, and education.
The Society was incorporated in 2006 by Founding Member, Glenn Dewhurst, and relocated to the current Kaarakin site in 2008 when demand for the Society’s services outgrew Glenn’s home.
Although not open to the general public, tour days run twice a year and private guided tours can be arranged for a donation to the center.

Greyhounds as Pets NSW

Greyhounds are really friendly dogs and so make great pets!  Greyhounds As Pets is a not-for-profit initiative coordinated by Greyhound Racing NSW. The program aims to provide families with a pet that is ideally suited to their needs, while giving those Greyhounds not suited to racing, or ready to retire from their life as an athlete, a new home.
