Liverpool‘s Trent Alexander-Arnold certainly knew what he was doing a little earlier this week.

The Reds right-back posted a photograph of him and Jude Bellingham on Instagram.

And it just so happens that Bellingham is heavily linked with a transfer to Liverpool.

According to Sky Germany journalist, the Anfield outfit are ‘pushing a lot’ to bring the 19-year-old to Merseyside, a destination which the player himself ‘highly rates’, as covered by HITC Sport.

Alexander-Arnold and Bellingham may be many of thousands of miles away in Qatar for England’s World Cup campaign, but the Liverpool defender must have known about the stir it would cause among supporters of the Premier League giants.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, the picture has zero bearing on whether the player is joining Jurgen Klopp’s side or not.

He told Caught Offside: “Honestly I don’t think this is a factor for Jude Bellingham. Liverpool are in the race for Bellingham, they want Bellingham but Trent or any other player can’t be the real difference at this stage, it’s too early.”

Jude Bellingham joining Liverpool?

In a word, possibly.

But Romano is right in saying that the picture is not a significant development.

As mentioned, they are international teammates and being friendly with one another is merely par for the course.

That being said, Bellingham will of course be aware of the speculation regarding a transfer to Liverpool and no doubt Alexander-Arnold will have known that too.
