As a sort of mockery directed on the Islamic fundamentalist movement known as jihad, the website known as Celeb Jihad is notorious for posting leaked private films of celebrities, many of which are sexual in nature. A “satirical celebrity gossip website.” according to The Daily Beast’s description of the site.
According to its own description, the website is “a satirical website containing published rumors, speculation, assumptions, opinions, fiction as well as factual information”
The identity of the site’s proprietor, “Durka Durka Mohammad” a fake terrorist whose mission is described as “destroying the poisonous celebrity culture” in the United States, is listed on the website.
The website has taken part in a series of leaks of photographs and video that have been given the moniker “Fappening 2.0” These releases are usually considered to have been obtained from hacked mobile devices.
In August of 2017, it published nude photographs of Kristen Stewart, Lindsey Vonn, Miley Cyrus, and Katharine McPhee. Tiger Woods was also included in the gallery. In what seems to be a response to legal threats made on August 23, the photograph of Woods and Vonn that had been shared on August 21 was removed, and photos of Carly Booth were either deleted on August 23 or 24.
The latest in a long line of similar breaches of WWE celebrity photographs, in November of 2017 Celeb Jihad published nude pictures of WWE divas Saraya-Jade Bevis, JoJo Offerman, and Maria Kanellis. This was the latest in a long line of similar disclosures of WWE celebrity images.
Additionally, the website has distributed edited versions of nude images that purport to be of female celebrities, such as Meghan Markle, Taylor Swift, Megan Fox, and Kate Upton, among others.
