How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Don’t Worry Darling, and A Million Ways to Die in the West have been at the top of Hulu’s movie list for the past few days. It probably won’t last, as according to Flix Patrol, a new contender is already at #10 on the list and rising fast: 2008’s Twilight.

As the days get colder, maybe people are looking for more brooding, tormented, romantic movies to watch under the covers? If so, then “Twilight” is the perfect picture as it brings together Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Rob Pattinson) in an iconic on-screen couple. In fact, this vampiric hit is gaining momentum on Hulu and the rest of the world, as it’s made the Netflix top 10 in countries as diverse as Italy, Trinidad and Tobago, Israel, and Jamaica.

Nearly 15 years ago, this YA storyline between a vampire and a high school girl created a tween phenomenon that lasted four films and dominated the MTV Awards. It all started with this film, directed by Catherine Hardwick, where they met and began to fall in love.

Although both Stewart and Pattinson had previously acted in films, Twilight made them overnight stars which allowed them to work with unique directors such as David Cronenberg, Olivier Assayas and Christopher Nolan. The film also opened with Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Taylor Lautner and Anna Kendrick.

Interestingly, the film was a huge (and surprising) box office success, earning a score of 72 percent from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, despite failing to please the critics, who gave it a mere 49 percent rating. If you’re feeling dark and romantic, this movie might quench your thirst for that kind of story.

Twilight is currently streaming on Hulu and Netflix. If you’re still longing for more gory movies after watching the whole saga, you’re welcome to check out our top ten vampire movies. An undead romance that really wants to be Romeo & Juliet takes a bite out of streaming
